Seven Standing
Committees:
Bylaws
- Education: Identify current issues of
interest to school nurses to improve and enhance their
professional practice. Committee will coordinate and
record continuing education units. Help to set up monthly
SNOA / SN Networking meetings. Monitor course
availability and advise colleges and universities of
educational needs. Discuss school nurse certification
requirements with the Arizona Board of Nursing. Promote
scholarship awards (both state and national) and develop
a plan for funding. Promote research projects that
validate the positive outcomes of school nursing
interventions. School
Nurse Certification
- Constitution/Bylaws: Review and propose
changes as needed. Help to develop a strategic plan for
the organization.
- Legislative: Apprise the membership of
current legislation, both State and Federal, that is
pertinent to education and school nursing and recommend
appropriate action action be taken. Provide
tools/resources to assist school nurses in the discussion
of legislative issues with their
legislators.
- Public Relations: Promote understanding
of and support for SNOA with other professional
organizations, especially educational organizations, and
with the public at large. Publicize School Nurse Day and
interact with the media regarding school health events.
Identify organizations, individuals who support and
promote child health issues and encourage their
collaboration with the organization.
- Membership: Keep a current record of
all members of SNOA, including member status. Develop
surveys which will gather information related to needs of
school nurses, member satisfaction. Develop a plan to
increase membership and retain members. Membership

- Nominations/Elections: Work to promote
interest in both state and national offices. Identify
potential candidates and encourage members to take a
leadership role in their professional
organizations
- Funds & Management: Help to promote
the School Nurses Organization of Arizona by utilizing
marketing strategies. Seek out funding sources and fund
raising items which will help us to remain fiscally
sound.
- Communications: Encourage school nurses
to submit articles for publication. Design the newsletter
layout, print and mail the newsletters. Search out and
include current and "cutting edge" items of interest to
school nurses. Assist with postings to the SNOA Web
Page.
- Special Committee: Planning
for the 2004/2005 SNOA Spring and Summer
Conference.
